Every January the North Shore Cricket Club presents the Junior World Series of Cricket, an exciting opportunity for budding young cricket stars to play under the flag of a national team in three days of intense competition.
Players have come from as far off as England to play, but most are local and entries from all clubs are welcome.
There are no selection criteria, except first in, best dressed. Cricketers of all abilities take part - so anyone can play and get a chance to star. Players get selected into teams to represent the major cricketing countries of the world.
The ‘Little League’ teams (school years 3 and 4) play at Devonport Domain with batters getting an equal turn at the crease and fielders rotating each over. Coaches for Little League teams come from secondary school squads giving youth players leadership opportunities.
Kids in years 5-8 play 20-over games at Devonport Domain, Belmont Intermediate, Vauxhall Reserve, Bayswater Park, Naval playing fields and Stanley Bay in the middle and senior levels of the competition (venues will vary). Captains come from the host club who assume full responsibility for batting order (within rules which ensure all players get to bat in the opening three at some stage in the tournament), bowling rotation, field placement and teamwork.
At all levels, the black shirt is coveted but is no guarantee of a place in the final.
One aspect though, that is guaranteed is spectator support – for both ‘home’ and ‘away’ teams – in equal proportions!

On the first day please arrive at 8.00 am then on days 2 and 3, no later than 8.30 am.
We suggest your player brings sunscreen, a hat, their own drink, own gear, and normal white playing clothing (remember they'll receive their coloured playing shirt when they first assemble with their team). The club cafe will be open all day, each day, for lunch and drinks. Play normally finishes for the day at 4-4.30pm. Your child will be travelling by bus to some games and maps are available on the website or at the clubhouse. Please make sure that he/she is always dropped at the club in the morning to be checked off.
Remember that prize giving takes place after the Finals, at the main NSCC pavilion. This usually starts between 5 and 6pm on Wednesday. As usual a magnificent range of quality prizes will be up for grabs.
If we decide to cancel a day's play due to the weather, a message will be put on the club website as soon as the decision is made.
Please Note: The Junior World Series is not a school holiday programme or child care. Children remain the responsibility of their parent/caregiver throughout the duration of the event.
