The North Shore Cricket Club (NSCC), established in 1864, is one of the oldest cricket clubs in New Zealand.  Situated at the picturesque Devonport Domain on Auckland's North Shore, NSCC is currently home to over 340 junior players and their families, a Premier Reserve women’s team, 3 senior two day men’s teams, 3 social T20 teams and a Presidents grade side, as well as our many social members and supporters.  It's more than just cricket club though - NSCC is a community hub.

Steeped in history and tradition (including our mantra of playing cricket ‘the Shore way’), some of our renowned cricketers have included Ces Dacre, Verdun Scott, Barry Sinclair, Hedley Howarth, Martin Snedden, Richard Reid, Danny Morrison and Richard Jones.  Further information on the club is available at:  http://www.northshorecricket.co.nz/index.php

NSCC is now seeking applications for the below positions for the 2018/19 season.

Although the roles are broken-down and advertised separately, we are open to receiving applications:

  • for both roles from individual candidates (in which case the remuneration packages would be aggregated); or
  • for one of the roles only.

  1. Men's Premier Head Coach (2018/19)

We are seeking a dedicated, ambitious and knowledgeable head coach for our Premier men’s team.  The team have considerable talent and are the current Premier Auckland T20 champions.  We are looking for a coach that can develop such talent and take the team to the next level, with the aim of winning more short-form silverware and gaining promotion in the two-day competition.

The role includes the following core responsibilities:

  • Designing and running trainings for the broader Premier squad, including pre-season in August/September and during the season on Tuesday and Thursday evenings;
  • Individual player coaching, mentoring and development;
  • Selection;
  • Attendance and managing the team on game days (October to March); and
  • Ancillary administrative attendances.

This is a fixed term role for the 2018/19 cricket season.  A more detailed job description will be made available to short-listed candidates in due course.

Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a Level 2 coaching certificate, but this is not essential and we will take a broader view of your cricketing knowledge and coaching credentials.  More important will be your vision for developing the Men's Premier side to be the best it can be.

Playing and non-playing candidates will be considered.

Remuneration will be assessed based on the qualities of the successful candidate.

If interested, please submit your application by email, with a cover note outlining your interest in the role and attaching a cricket CV, by no later than 30 June 2018 to: administration@northshorecricket.co.nz

  1. Cricket Development Officer (2018/19)

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and professional Cricket Development Officer to be responsible for managing our general cricket operations.

The role suits a self-starter who can manage a combination of coaching and administrative responsibilities, including:

  • Developing and implementing our junior coaching programme, including attendance at least 3 afternoons per week;
  • Employing and managing casual coaching staff;
  • Managing the training and vetting of our coaches and parent volunteer managers/umpires, per ACA requirements;
  • Developing and implementing strategic initiatives to foster cricket in local schools and to bring secondary school players through to the senior club;
  • Assisting the Club Manager with communications to players and parents;
  • Developing tailored individual coaching programmes for elite junior players;
  • Organising and running spring and summer junior coaching camps and a pre-Junior World Series camp;
  • Managing the acquisition and allocation of playing kit and gear (in conjunction with the Club Manager);
  • Liaising with NSCC's Junior Committee;
  • Monthly reporting to NSCC's Executive Board; and
  • Ancillary administrative attendances.

This is a fixed term role that will run from August 2018 to April 2019.  A more detailed job description will be made available to short-listed candidates in due course.

The successful candidate will have a passion for cricket coaching and developing talent.  A Level 2 coaching certificate is desirable, but if not held, a willingness to work towards obtaining one in the short term would be acceptable.  From an administrative perspective, the successful candidate should also be diligent, well-organised, computer literate and collaborative.

Remuneration will be assessed based on the qualities of the successful candidate, with the possibility of including the use of a car. If interested, please submit your application by email, with a cover note outlining your interest in the role and attaching a cricket CV, by no later than 30 June 2018 to: administration@northshorecricket.co.nz
